ROUNDANDROUND ROUNDANDROUND
As part of a public art project on waste bins in Leiden’s Heren- and Doezastraat, Fleur van den Berg transformed one of the bins into a work about human entanglement in ecological cycles. The corroded human figure symbolizes how our environment is increasingly polluted by microplastics and other substances. White dots, some colored, enter the body, representing particles circulating through nature and ultimately within ourselves. The entire bin is coated in rust paint, a surface that refers both to decay and to iron as a fundamental, non-toxic element within the earth.
