Zielhuizen (Soul Houses)
Following the renovation of two apartment complexesin Cuijck, Fleur van den Berg was asked to do a participatory art project with the residents. Through home visits and open conversations, she collected deeply personal stories about care, resilience, loss, and memory. These narratives inspired a series of sculptural birdhouses installed in the surrounding trees — each transformed with symbolic features such as ears, eyes, hearts, or wings.

The birdhouses serve as metaphors: the house as a symbol of the self, the bird as the soul, and the tree as the cycle of life. Together, they form a constellation of stories reflecting both individual experience and universal experiences in life.
